I've talked with some
 
A lot of Rat Rods are 20's and 30's chopped, dropped, and channeled, like this 1934 Ford. Many are rusty, with no paint, or flat finish paint, and have some unusual features like these high pipes. But you also see newer cars with nice, shiny paint, like this 1961 Merc hardtop.
 Maybe these fall into the
 
This Merc is actually too nice for me to consider it a This 1960 Ford Starliner, with a semi-gloss finish, seems to fall somewhere in between. I'm open to learning more about the distinctions, if someone would like to educate me.
